Nestled in the heart of downtown Gainseville, The Colored Egg has been providing locals with freshly baked goods since 2009. Our name comes from the Aracauna Chicken which are originally from Chile. They are also known as the "Easter Egg Chicken" because of the colored eggs the hens lay. Kathy raises Aracaunas at home on her farm and holds the same philosophy for The Colored Egg business: fresh and pure ingredients are best.

The Colored Egg aims to provide food that is well prepared, well presented. In order to do so, we are up before the chickens, baking fresh for you daily.

"Kathy is the best! A true chef & baker. She offers not only sweets but soups, quiche's and sandwiches. She has daily specials & will special make anything your taste buds are desiring. I ordered several dozen cupcakes for a baby shower & everyone had a fit over them. Visit her early, her creations sell out. There is also a little dining area if you don't want to take it to go.".

-Priscilla B.

"I've been here a number of times and I've yet to come across an item that has disappointed. The stuffed breads are savory and delicious, the quiches are satisfying, and the sticky buns and cinnamon rolls are sizable, tasty and quite the value. I highly recommend it!"
